Return to Active Duty

As many of you may be aware, I was on ordered bed rest without access to my computer since my recent trip to the far east. After exhaustive pleas on my own behalf, I've been released and will be back to work in the morning.

I'd like to thank you all for the birthday wishes this past week and those of you who left gifts for me. I love them all.

Oh, and one more thing, I'll be using a cane for the time being- so I'm calling a ceasefire on any prank activity until I'm better. For those of you lamenting this, please rest assured you will be the first to know when this brief reprieve has ended.

New Coffee Machine

Friends and fellow caffeine addicts,

It took a wee bit longer than I was expecting to complete the final model of what I am christening the Home Barista 2.7. Had my lab not been flooded by the as-of-yet unidentified pranksters, this would have been finished before the weekend.

When you see her in the kitchen, or if she talks to you, don't be alarmed- it is simply how I designed her.

Meet HB2.7...

Not only does she self-clean with the water line I added to the original designs, but she also is programmed to make your drink to order with over twenty different flavor syrups and many more features. The instructions on how to order are available on the counter next to her. And for Monkey Joe, there is a coffee bean dispenser on the back, and should he decide to try to open HB2.7- there are counter-measures installed.

Enjoy your morning coffee and please let me know if there are any bugs in the system.

Yours truly,
-Hank

Water Pipes

Would anyone care to explain why the safety shower in my laboratory on floor B2 exploded today? While explosions in the lab are nothing new to someone in my position, I ask since the pipes began to rattle when I opened the door. Upon further investigation, it seems the pipes were weakened, which- while I was trying to discern what the cause of the ruckus was- caused them to burst, drenching me, my favorite suit and my touchpad.

While nothing was actually hurt in the accident, it was rather annoying. I further find that the security cameras which were installed in the hallway were malfunctioning since some time last night- which leads me to suspect foul play instead of substandard plumbing.

As you, my mysterious prankster, may well be aware, you have now initiated war with the king of practical- and impractical- jokes. Sleep with one eye open, for I am coming for you.

Commencement

Dear Fellow Members of the Xavier Institute,

I was asked by Professor Xavier to post this information while he recovers. It is my sad duty to report that there was an incident during this year's commencement ceremony. The long story short, a battle broke out, but was quickly ended thanks to quick thinking and actions by the graduating class and other alumni in attendance.

The fight was not without casualties however and, at this time, Nicholas Gleason is unaccounted for. A search effort has been launched by several senior members of staff for the graduating senior, no other help is required at this time. All that is known is that Mister Gleason was badly injured during the fight and despite the best efforts of all involved, he is now missing.

Other injuries have been treated in the MedLab and no one is much worse for wear. The RA's and teaching staff are available if anyone needs to talk. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

Sincerest Regards,
-Dr. Henry McCoy

Consultare il Medico

Sorry as I am to say, I've been called away to consult on a medical mystery today by our lovely friends at S.H.I.E.L.D. For those of you whom had appointments with me today and early tomorrow, you'll find that Doctor Voght will be more than happy to accommodate your needs- otherwise I should be back tomorrow afternoon. I have my phone on in case of emergency, but I feel that since my hosts went through the trouble of farmi un'offerta che non può rifiutare, it may not be wise to contact me unless it's a matter of life or death.

Granted, given that the mystery involves someone's mutation, they didn't have to torcere il braccio troppo duro.

Ciao,
-Hank

Stuck in Edinburgh

Flights have been canceled across the board back to the states so the three of us are stuck in Edinburgh. We'll be back as soon as we can, but there will be some connecting flights, probably through Heathrow this morning.

Update on Fred Dukes

To those of you who have an interest, Fred Dukes has arrived at Muir Island for specialized treatment. I'm told he's resting comfortably and news of any changes will be forthcoming.

Visitors

For those whom have not yet heard the news, Doreen Green manifested a new power today and is currently in the Med Lab- in stable condition.  I'm allowing a few visitors tonight, just close friends please; there will be plenty of time for others in the coming days.

Danger Room II

Sincere thank you's to everyone whom assisted me this weekend by trying to break the Danger Room.  I'm quite ecstatic to report that all systems are now functioning as near to perfect as they'll ever get and there are a couple upgrades in the works for this next month.

For one of them, I will require the assistance of one of our number who happens to possess an enhanced nasal ability.  Please contact me, as you are able.

Final thought, I'm always happy to run one of my special programs for anyone who thinks they can beat it- just ask.

Danger Room

As a good deal of time has passed since a proper systems check has been run on the old girl, so today I'm requesting volunteers to test the limits of what our reality simulator is capable of doing before breaking.

If you had planned to use it today, come by and I'll stay out of your way, or perhaps you'd like to try one of my special scenarios.

If you'd like to help out, please get in touch with me as soon as you can.

Liberation

As Lieutenant General Douglas MacArthur said upon liberating the Philippines, "I have returned."

Greetings to old friends and those soon to be new ones.  To those whom know me, I'll be in the med center tomorrow, getting reacquainted with my job, which is to substitute for Doctor Grey-Summers while she's abroad.  Stop by when you have a moment, it's been far too long and far too few words have been exchanged in the last few years.  Maddie and Billy are still back in Scotland for the time being, though I'm happy to pass on any well wishes that you have.

For those of you who I don't yet know, I'm Doctor Hank McCoy.  I went to school here; many years ago it would now seem.  I have blue fur and have a tendency to hang from the ceiling; just so you're not startled when we meet.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm feeling a bit jet lagged and will be reacquainting myself with an old friend for the next few hours...my bed.

I don't know why people say it's difficult to take pictures of children. Scott, Alex and I went to have a family portrait taken with baby Billy yesterday, and he behaved angelically.

Of course, the fact that he can't talk, walk, crawl, or lift his head by himself probably contributed. But he didn't cry once, nor did he throw up, which are the only two really annoying things he can do as yet - at least, while his diaper is firmly in place. :) So I think it went well. And afterwards, we had coffee.

It felt bizarrely like being a grownup. I feel as if I should give away all my toys and pranking equipment to the younger children. Alison, would Miles like some of my old standbys? Whoopee-cushions and black-foaming toothpaste never stop being funny. Also, I have a kazoo I'm not using. ;) He's old enough to start learning a musical instrument...

And anyone who would like a group portrait of the 'family', or one of Scott or Alex posing alone and looking very handsome, let me know. :) I brought home plenty.

A sign that I am truly besotted...

Woken up by wails at three in the morning, confronted with the truly vile substances evacuated by a newborn baby, and then required to sing lullabies while too sleepy to remember all the words...

And he's still the most wonderful thing I've ever seen. :)

Visiting Hours

Being now rested, clean, and restored with food - blessings on whoever brought it down! - I am pleased to announce Showing Off Time.... ahem, I mean, Visiting Hours. ;) Dani is napping at the moment, but William has just been fed after a long nap, and is ready to be admired. Therefore, visiting hours are officially from 3:30 to 5:30, line forms on the left. :) C'mon down and meet the new arrival!

The icon is a picture of him, naturally. Although it doesn't do him justice. But he's so cute in his little hat!

Baaaa

To quote another handsome blue fellow from 'Aladdin'... Well, *I* feel sheepish.

I have, at times, been cranky of late. Even downright bad-tempered and judgemental... and worse, on one occasion, purposely rude. I wanted to apologize to everyone, since quite a few of you have been affected, and explain why.

I was, not to put too fine a point on it, getting all stressed because I wasn't stressed enough. (This is the kind of wacky logic Our Mysterious Friend The Brain can subject us to) I went from working my fur off on a dozen different projects, the school included, to dropping everything else - including my own research - and trying to focus all my attention on the school and the team. Suddenly I had free time, could sleep more than five hours a night... and it sent me straight up the wall. The pattern of constant activity was so ingrained into my mind, at that point, that I couldn't shake the feeling that I should be doing something important, right now, every minute... and there was far too much time in which there wasn't anything for me to do. I didn't realize it consciously, but I was stressed because I subconsciously thought I was *supposed* to be, so my Helpful Friend the Brain started giving me things to worry about. Anything it could come up with.

I've talked to Charles, and the problem is mostly dealt with - it's going to take me time to get out of the habit of needing something, anything to do, but I can do so consciously now. Once the Box is fully repaired, I'll be doing some of my own work again - not working myself into the ground, but keeping myself occupied. And once the baby is born, I imagine my time will fill up quickly enough.

I'm making this a public announcement for two reasons - first, as previously stated, because I owe quite a few people assorted levels of apology, and this will hopefully explain matters to everyone at once, and second, because there are those among you who are almost as bad as I used to be, especially with finals coming up. When finals are over, anyone who finds themselves having trouble winding down, who keeps waking up with a start worried that they should be doing something or gets antsy when there's nothing to do... believe me, it's entirely normal. And Charles, or myself, or several of the other teachers will more than understand, and be happy to help.

First of all... Hooray! :) I was starting to think we'd have to organize a suprise wedding for you two or something, with a priest jumping out of a cake.

Second of all... congratulations, Nathan and Moira, and I will be there with bells on. Or at least clothes. (I promised my parents I wouldn't ever streak another function)

Third of all... darn. This finery-shopping expedition will, I'm sure, trump my nursery-furniture-shopping trip. I guess I'll just have to take some of the guys. (Anyone want to go shopping for cribs, wedding gifts, and gelati?)

Fourth of all... The medlab is way too quiet, this late at night. Time to put on some music to sing along to!

Some nice religious music, I think.

It seems I've been outed as a prospective father. *g* Yes, I am planning to adopt Danielle's baby, once he or she is safely born. Tremble! Tremble, all! For I, unlike Danielle, am capable of filling every inbox with reams of delightful baby pictures, talking loudly about my child's adorable potty habits at the table, and in general being the very worst sort of Obsessed Parent. You've all been warned. (Especially those of you in my classes, who can't run away and are at my MERCY. Mwahahahaha!)

Hee. I need to call my mother. She has bootees to make.

We're home!

It's been a long few days, and we're glad to be back. :) I, for one missed my bed, which is of generous enough proportions to support all of my body at once, my shower, into which I can place my entire body at once instead of having to wash in stages, and the kitchen. (Did I EVER miss the kitchen)

Should anyone want to see me, I'll be busy on night shift and so on for a while, so early mornings or evenings are the best times to look me up. :) I'm off to bed now, for one night of sleep before I go back on late shifts...

In case there's anyone I forgot to notify... Danielle, Forge and I are off to Oklahoma, we gentlement to support the lady during her divorce proceedings. My classes will be covered, I've left homework, and please someone feed the cat. *g* Not that she doesn't get fed often anyway.

Kyle, there's more soup in the freezer if you want it. I'll be back very soon.

Everyone please pray to whatever deities that you believe in that the baby doesn't decide to make an unscheduled early appearance on the side of the road somewhere. Call me paranoid, but after a sojourn at the mansion as long as mine has been, one comes to expect things to go wrong.

(OOC note: Sorry this is late!)
